Trade Statistics

A few weeks ago I participated in an international forum of global trade statistics. There is a growing concern about the coverage and quality of international trade based in the 1) incapacity of Official Statistical Systems to prevent the 2009 world economic crisis 2) the need to have a more information about the commercial systems inside and between countries and, 3) the need to have integrated and actualized information around the world.
This discussion is completely necessary and urgent for countries like Ecuador, where the trade statistics still does not have a systematic process to organize and where our politic focus is trying to look for commercial agreements no just only based in overthrow economic tariffs but in commercial agreements for development; so we do not need just information about international trade but also internal market compositions, labor market impacts, sustainability, etc.
In this link you can find the principal documents of the meeting and in a couple of weeks you will see a document about the specific work ofEcuador to improve our trade statistics.
